Navarro College rising sophomore combo guard Xavier Pina committed Saturday to attend Florida Gulf Coast University and play for new coach Pat Chambers' Eagles of the Atlantic Sun Conference beginning in the fall 2023 season.

Pina, who last season scored 235 points and led the Bulldogs in three-point shooting (64-of-162), will return to complete his two-year career at Navarro before moving on to FGCU in Fort Myers.

Pina and NC teammate Addarin Scott will be among the country's 200 best junior college players participating in JUCORecruiting.com's All-American JUCO Showcase Invitational July 9-10 at the International Sports Arena in Stone Mountain, Ga.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Woodbury, NJ, produced 10 games of double-figure scoring and averaged 7.8 points for coach Grant McMillan's Bulldogs in the 2021-22 season. He scored a personal-high 27 points from 9-of-13 three-point shooting in a game against Blinn. Two of his other notable performances highlighted by 5-of-8 three-point shooting occurred during wins at Weatherford (71-54), and at Athens against Trinity Valley (80-72) in the final regular-season Region XIV game.

Pina last season appeared in 30 games for NC with shooting percentages of 41.9 from the floor and 39.3 from three-point range.
