Tryout Information


Welcome to the Navarro College Cheerleading Program!

We're excited that you're interested in joining our cheerleading team. This is an overview of the tryout information and what to expect during our tryout process. Please read this information and prepare mentally and physically.

TRYOUT DATES - Tryouts are held at the end of each clinic.

You do not have to register for both clinics and tryouts.

Video Submissions
Video Submission Registration

Please complete the online registration form and upload your video.

Video submissions need to include highest level tumbling skills and highest level stunting skills.

The deadline for video submission tryout is May 11, 2024.  See video tryout format (pdf).

We will be signing athletes throughout the season,

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for tryouts, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a junior in high school (early signees) or above.
  • You must have a high school diploma, GED or plan to complete your education to be eligible to enroll for the upcoming academic year.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and medical waivers before tryouts.

 

TRYOUT ATTIRE

Wear appropriate cheerleading attire that allows coaches to evaluate your skills and abilities. This includes:

  • Fitted athletic clothing.
  • Red Shirt for Males. Red Sports Bra for Females.
  • Cheerleading shoes.
  • Hair tied back neatly.
  • No jewelry. Natural makeup.

 

TRYOUT PROCESS

The tryout process consists of several components that assess different aspects of your cheerleading skills and abilities. These skills include:

  • Tumbling Skills: If you have tumbling skills, you will showcase them during tryouts. There will be jumps to back, Standing tumbling pass, and a running tumbling pass.
  • Stunting Skills: If you have experience with stunting, you will be evaluated on your ability to execute stunts safely and effectively. We would like to see 1 to 2 elite stunts with a college level dismount. Ex.(Double Down)
  • Interview: You will have a brief interview with the coaching staff to discuss your commitment, dedication, and goals if we want to sign you.
  • Teamwork: Your ability to work well with others and be a team player is crucial in cheerleading. This will be assessed throughout the tryout process. You are expected to be friendly and outgoing, interacting with the current team and showing your willingness to learn and accept feedback. 

 

TRYOUT TIPS

  • Mentality is everything. Be confident in everything you do and have fun. You may attend multiple clinics.
  • Focus on safety during stunting and tumbling.
  • Show enthusiasm and spirit throughout the tryout.

 

RESULTS AND NOTIFICATION

Results will be communicated to participants privately through email.  Those selected for the team will receive an invitation to join the 17x National Championship Navarro College Cheerleading Program.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship amounts are awarded after the team is finalized. Out-of-State fees are waived for non-resident students.

 

REQUIRED - MEDICAL RELEASE FORM 

All applicants taking part in clinics must sign the Medical Release Form to participate. 

REQUIRED - PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE FORM 

All applicants taking part in clinics must sign the Photo/Video Release Form to participate.
