Sizemore Selected To NFCA's All-Midwest Region Team

By MIKE MONTFORT

Navarro College sophomore outfielder Cynthia Sizemore was voted Monday a member of the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First-Team All-Midwest Region.

Sizemore is among 160 student-athletes, representing 66 programs, to receive 2023 NFCA NJCAA Division I & II All-Region accolades. NFCA member coaches from each region voted on the teams, and all honorees are now eligible for the 2023 NFCA NJCAA Division I & II All-America squads.

Sizemore is the 35th Navarro player to gain NFCA All-Region honors since 2000, and the first since the 2018-19 season when infielder Sarah Koeppen was selected as a first-teamer.

Sizemore was one of three Region XIV players to make the elite 13-member first team, joining Paris third baseman Mariah Vasquez and San Jacinto-South shortstop Arriana Wright. Wright's teammate, pitcher Christin Haygood, and Blinn outfielder Allayna Calvillo earned second-team recognition.

A first-team all-conference and all-region player, Sizemore capped a spectacular career here with a 47-game slashline of .439/.465/.890 after leading the Bulldogs in most batting categories. The Trinity, Tx., centerfielder hit 16 home runs, drove in 62 runs, stole 20 of 21 bases, and scored 45 runs. She also led the Bulldogs in at-bats (155), hits (68), doubles (16), extra-base hits (35) and total bases (138).

The NFCA will announce its All-American teams Friday, June 2
