ODESSA, TX-The Navarro College Volleyball team travels to Odessa, TX to compete in the Wrangler Classic set for Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28
The tournament features nationally ranked host Odessa College(5) as well as other Texas teams Hill College, Cisco College and Navarro College(13). Trinidad State, New Mexico Military Institute and New Mexico Junior College will make an appearance at the Wrangler Classic.
Navarro will go up against NMJC on Friday, August 27 at 3 PM CST, before taking on host Odessa College at 7 PM CST. On Saturday, August 28 Navarro will look to change their fate with NMMI as it will be the second time they've met this season. NMMI narrowly took the match in five sets at their home gym in Roswell, NM at the NMMI Classic this past weekend.
Following the NMMI tournament, Bia Nunes was selected to the All-Tournament team after posting 37 kills on the weekend. Freshman setter, Eline Fieremans, is in the top ten in the nation for assists on the year as she feeds the ball to freshmen outsides Tjasa Malnar and Maria Eduarda as well as sophomore outside Lauren Tishkoff and middle blocker Wiktoria Warpechowska. Freshman libero, Alessia Sonzini, is in the top twenty nationally with 78 digs on the season.
The Bulldogs have successfully made their way into the top twenty in aces with tough server (freshman) Maria Eduarda.
Navarro is 2-3 for the pre-season after taking a fall from NCTC earlier this week. They'll look to bounce back tomorrow for their afternoon match against NMJC.
Livestream will be available for Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28.
