CORSICANA, TX- The Bulldogs (1-1)swept Lee College(1-3) on Thursday night in their second contest in conference play.
The Dawgs set out against the Lady Rebels on Thursday night and came away successful in a three set match sweep(25-21, 25-19, 25-13). Navarro looked solid hitting .230 as a team with freshman outside hitter, Tjasa Malnar, and sophomore opposite, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, leading the team with nine kills a piece. Sophomore middle blocker, Wiktoria Warpechowska, contributed five total blocks and five kills on eleven attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The Bulldogs came out strong with a 7-2 start. The Lady Rebels closed the gap to 6-8 before Navarro's outside hitter, Tjasa Malnar, came out with a kill to set the Bulldogs up for a three point lead. NC kept at least a three point lead for the rest of the set with the largest difference coming at 23-15 to the Dawgs. Lee responded with a 3-0 run before a service error gave Navarro the set.
Second Set
NC started slow with Lee College coming out hot in a 4-2 lead. The first tie of the match came at 4-4. A big overpass kill came from freshman middle, Nia Mack, during an 8-0 run for the Dawgs to make the score 16-9.
Third Set
A 3-0 run to start the third and final set of the sweep was upended by the Lady Rebels. They tied the match for the second time at 5-5 before NC went on a 4-0 with an ace by Freshman libero, Alessia Sonzini and a block by middle blocker, Wiktoria Warpechowska. NC took off on a 9-0 run, the largest of the match, before closing out the set with another block by Wiktoria Warpechowska and Tjasa Malnar.

The Dawgs (5-5) will take on non-conference opponent Hill College (2-7) on Saturday, August 18th in Hillsboro, TX.
