#20 NC SPLITS WEEKEND CONFERENCE MATCHES

CORSICANA, TX- The Navarro College Volleyball team split their weekend conference matches with a sweep against Coastal Bend College (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) and a four set loss to #3 Blinn College (25-16, 19-25, 22-25, 13-25). 

 

VS COASTAL BEND COLLEGE: 

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set   
Navarro College came out with a strong lead of 12-7 before a timeout was called by the Cougars. The Dawgs continued to lead before Coastal Bend College called their final timeout of the set at 20-14. NC went on for a 4-1 point scoring run and won the set by a missed serve from the Cougars. 
 
Second Set
The set started with a 5-5 tie. The Dawgs took a timeout to regroup as the Cougars were up 8-6. A kill by freshman middle blocker, Nia Mack, would allow the Dawgs to go up by a three point lead of 14-11. Two more kills by sophomore outsides, Lauren Tishkoff and Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, would force a six point deficit with a score of 18-12 to the Dawgs. NC would go on a 7-0 run to win the set. 

Third Set
An early tie in the set at 8-8 saw the Cougars go on a 3-0 run. A missed serve gave Navarro the possession and a 2-0 run before the Cougars called a timout at 10-11. A block from freshman outside, Tjasa Malnar, would give the Dawgs a two point lead at 14-12. Navarro would go on to finish a 5-0 run to take the set at 25-19. 

 

VS #3 BLINN COLLEGE: 

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set   
Navarro College came out with a 3-1 lead. Blinn College Buccaneers trailed throughout the set before calling a timeout at 14-11. The Dawgs extended the lead to 18-12 before the Bucs called their second timeout. NC would go on to outscore Blinn College 7-4 to finish the set at 25-16. 
 
Second Set
NC and Blinn College started out tied 4-4 before the Bucs would go on a 6-2 run. An NC hitting error along with a hitting error would give the Bucs a string of points. Sophomore outside, Lauren Tishkoff, came back with a kill to bring the Dawgs back into the set. NC went on a late set run to force the Bucs to take a timeout at 19-24. A kill by Blinn College would tie up the sets at 1-1. 

Third Set
NC would fall short to start at 1-3. A block by sophomore hitters, Lauren Tishkoff and Wiktoria Warpechowska, would bring the Dawgs within two points, 6-8. The Dawgs would continue to trail throughout the set, with another block coming from Eline Fieremans and Nia Mack. Freshman setter, Eline Fieremans, would follow up the block with an ace of her own. Blinn takes their first timeout. NC would fall behind at 14-18 and take their first timeout. The Dawgs would come back within two at 20-22 before a hitting error and missed serve would give the Bucs the set. 

Fourth Set
The Dawgs started down 2-5 before taking their first timeout. The Bucs would go on a 5-1 run to force a second timeout by the Dawgs. A missed serve at 9-16 would give Navarro the point and serve possession. Blinn College went on a run to finish out the set 13-25 to give them the match.

Navarro College will play Victoria College for back-to-back matches on Monday and Tuesday.
