
CORSICANA, TX- The Navarro College Volleyball team swept the Victoria College Pirates on both Monday and Tuesday for their back-to-back conference matches.
Game one scores: 25- 7, 25-8, 25-14
Game two scores: 25-9, 25-14, 25-10
Game One:
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
Navarro College came out with an early lead of 4-1 before the Dawgs went on a 7-0 run to force a timeout for the Pirates. The Dawgs finished on a 2-1 run to complete the first set.
Second Set
A block by sophomore opposite, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, and freshman middle blocker, Nia Mack, gave Navarro the first point. The Dawgs would go on to run the score to 8-2 and a tip by sophomore middle blocker, Wiktoria Warpechowska, would put NC on a 4-0 run. A missed serve by the Dawgs would give the Pirates an opportunity of a run of their own. NC had set point at 24-6 before the Pirates made a 2-0 run. A block by Wiktoria Warpechowska and freshman setter, Eline Fieremans, would end the set.
Third Set
NC and Victoria College tied up at 2-2 before the Dawgs gained a two point advantage. The Pirates would stay within three points before a kill by freshman outside, Maria Eduarda Dudao, would help the Dawgs create seperation. The longest rally came at 14-9 with opposite hitter, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, ending the point and helping the Dawgs to finish out the set and match.
Game two:
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
Navarro came out with a huge lead of 11-1 forcing a timeout for the Victoria Pirates. The Dawgs would go on to dominate the set and taking it by a point margin of 16.
Second Set
The Dawgs and Pirates walked the line with each other with the lead going to NC at 8-6. The Pirates would challenge the Dawgs and stay within three points at 11-8. NC responded with a 4-0 to create distance. Victoria College had two back-to-back kills to bring the score within five points, 15-10. A kill by sophomore outside, Lauren Tishkoff, would oush the Dawgs to 20-11 and help them go on a late set run to finish.
Third Set
NC took another early start at 9-2. They would continue on their multiple point runs to see the match end at 25-11. Multiple kills by outside, Lauren Tishkoff, and opposite, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, would help the Dawgs on their double sweep of the Pirates.

Navarro College will travel to play Tyler Junior College on Thursday, October 14, for the second match up in conference play in Tyler, Texas.
