
CORSICANA, TX- The Navarro College Volleyball program (10-5) defeated #12 Panola College (12-4) in four sets (25-21, 25-20, 11-25, 25-21).
vs #12 PANOLA COLLEGE:
First Set
The Dawgs came out with a 6-3 lead before the Fillies came back to tie the score at 6-6. Five more ties would happen throughout the first set before the Dawgs would pull ahead within two points at 19-17. The Panola College Fillies took their first timeout late in the set. A kill by sophomore outside, Lauren Tishkoff, helped the Dawgs keep a four point lead at 22-18. The Fillies came back within one point with an ace to keep a tight game at 22-21. Another kill by Lauren Tishkoff set off a 3-0 run for the Dawgs to take the set.
Second Set
Another back and forth start kept the Dawgs and Fillies neck and neck with seven ties up until 13-13. An ace by freshman setter, Eline Fieremans, helped the Dawgs get a two point lead at 15-13. The Fillies took a timeout at 19-15. The Dawgs kept pace and continued on a 3-1 run before taking their first timeout at 23-19. Lauren Tishkoff ended the set again with a kill.
Third Set
The Dawgs saw a stall in points from the Fillies and started with a 2-5 deficit. The Dawgs took their first timeout at 4-9 before the Fillies went on a big run offensively. The Fillies finished out the set but not before a ground shattering kill from sophomore opposite, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos.
Fourth Set
The DAwgs started down again at 2-5. They stayed within two points with back-to-back aces from freshmen outsides, Tjasa Malnar and Maria Eduarda Dudao, to stay at 5-7. A double block by sophomores, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos and Wiktoria Warpechowska, would give the Dawgs the push to take the lead at 13-11. At 16-14 the Fillies took their first timeout. The Fillies tied the score at 18-18 and again at 19-19. A kill by Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos allowed the Dawgs to keep a two point lead at 22-20. Panola College took their final timeout of the match at 23-20. Navarro College took a timeout at 24-21 before ending the set and match with a kill by Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos.
UP NEXT: SOPHOMORE NIGHT
The Navarro College Volleyball will take on Wharton County Junior College tomorrow night, October 28, at home in the SEC at 5 PM CST. The Dawgs will celebrate two sophomores at their sophomore night match. Free Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, face painting and other games available throughout the match to fans supporting the Dawgs.
