
CORSICANA, TX- The Navarro College Volleyball program completed its' 2021-2022 season at the Region XIV Regional Tournament this past weekend. The Dawgs finished regular Region XIV Conference play in third behind #2 Blinn College and #16 Panola College and finished fifth in the Regional Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The Dawgs started strong against the Pioneers with a 6-2 lead. A kill by freshman middle blocker, Nia Mack, would allow the Dawgs to stay at a four point lead at 9-5. A late set tie would come at 14-14, before the Pioneers would go on to lead 15-17 forcing a timeout by the Dawgs. Another late set tie at 22-22 would see sophomore opposite, Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos, with a kill. The Pioneers would go on to take the first set.
Second Set
The Dawgs dominated the start with a 7-0 lead as freshman outside, Maria Eduarda Dudao, served the long streak for the Dawgs. A 3-0 run of straight aces by freshman setter, Eline Fieremans, would give the Dawgs a large lead. Another back-to-back aces by freshman outside, Tjasa Malnar, put the Dawgs ahead to take the second set.
Third Set
NC was down by one at 4-5 at the start. A timeout at 4-7 would see the Pioneers improve to 5-12. A late set tie at 18-18 forced a Pioneers timeout. Two more ties would happen at 20-20 and 24-24 before the Dawgs won by two in the third.
Fourth Set NC started down by a large deficit of 1-6 until they came back late in the set to tie the score at 17-17. Three more ties would continue until a kill by Maria Eduarda Dudao would help close out the set and match for the Dawgs to advance in the Region XIV Regional Tournament.
VS #16 PANOLA COLLEGE:
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
NC found themselves in a fight at 5-5. An early timeout got the Dawgs on track and was followed up by a kill from Ana Beatriz Nunes Dos Santos and an ace by Eline Fieremans. Another timeout late in the set for the DAwgs saw a final push for control before the Fillies took set one.
Second Set
The Dawgs started down by four at 2-6 before going on a 4-0 run to tie the set. An early timeout gave the Dawgs a chance to regroup. Sophomore outside, Lauren Tishkoff, and sophomore middle blocker, Wiktoria Warpechowska, helped with a double block but the Dawgs fell behind to the Fillies.
Third Set
The Dawgs came out to fight in the third with a 5-4 lead. An ace by freshman defensive specialist, Lilouann Bechec, helped the Dawgs and forced a timeout by the Fillies. The front line blocks helped defensviely for the Dawgs and forced a late set timeout by the Fillies again. At 23-24, the Dawgs kept swinging with Wiktoria Warpechowska and Lauren Tishkoff both landing seperate kills. They would go on the finish the set with another block for the Dawgs.
Fourth Set
NC started off down again at 2-6 before calling a timeout. The Fillies would go on two long run of points to finish the set and match allowing them an advancement to the Region XIV Championship match vs Blinn College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
Navarro College started up at 7-2. An ace by Wiktoria Warpechowska helped the Dawgs keep a four point lead before the Cardinals tied up the set at 12-12. Two more aces by Warpechowska late in the set would allow the Dawgs another four point lead. The Cardinals came back from 20-16 to take the set 23-25.
Second Set
NC had opportunities with an 11-6 lead before the Cardinals tied it up at thirteen apiece. The Cardinals went on a 4-1 run before a kill by Lauren Tishkoff stopped the run. The Dawgs would go to a third set with the Cardinals.
Third Set
The Dawgs were up 5-2 and continued to take control of the set. A kill by Nia Mack helped the momentum for the Dawgs. A late set timeout at 17-14 by the Dawgs saw inmprovement to 20-16 after a kill by Lauren Tishkoff. The Cardinals took a timeout at 21-17. The Dawgs would stay in the set with a couple digs by freshman libero, Alessia Sonzini to help them go into the fourth set.
Fourth Set
The Dawgs kept a slight lead at 5-4 until a tie at 7-7. The Cardinals came ahead at 11-15. Two late set aces by Eline Fieremans and Lilouann Bechec would help the Dawgs earn a couple extra points before the Cardinals would take the set and match.
